- A thoughtful gift or an everyday essential that feels special
We craft all of our boards from Camphor Laurel, a timber with both beauty and purpose. Introduced to Australia in the 1820s, it quickly spread through northern New South Wales and southeast Queensland, where it’s now considered an invasive species. By working with it, we’re helping to repurpose what nature has left in abundance.
Every board is made from a single, solid piece of timber and naturally antibacterial, making it as practical as it is beautiful. Camphor Laurel also carries a rich aroma and striking grain, ensuring each piece is unique and worthy of display in your kitchen, even when it’s not in use.
At Art of Elements, every board begins with a slab of flattened Camphor Laurel timber, carefully cut and shaped by hand. The edges are routed to guide the natural flow of resin, then each piece is sanded smooth before the artwork begins.
We believe the preparation is just as important as the pour - it’s the foundation that ensures the resin cures seamlessly, free from imperfections, leaving you with a board that’s as flawless as it is functional.
The art of resin pouring is a skill we’ve honed for over six years. Achieving a flawless finish relies on many factors, from humidity and room temperature to keeping the workspace free from dust. Each batch must be mixed with precision, with just the right balance of colour added.
Resin also demands patience; overworking it can compromise the flow and clarity. That’s why we take the time to perfect every pour, ensuring the final surface is smooth, reflective, and free from imperfections - a true piece of functional art.
